Hello, I’m Trudy. The cook/photographer/web designer/food stylist etc etc behind Eat, Live & Play. I’m also a Certified Culinary Nutrition Expert and proud Canadian based in Toronto, Ontario.
Am I vegan? Nope. Vegetarian, sorta. Look, I don’t believe in labels but I do believe that all foods can be enjoyed in moderation. Am I gonna judge if you have a double cheeseburger with extra cheese, deep fried onions and a diet Coke? No, but I do normally find the diet Coke part funny, for obvious reasons 🙂
Let’s just say that I’m a plant passionate flexitarian. Okay so what the HECK does that mean??
“Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants”.
Food is meant to make you happy, but it should also make you healthy.
I mostly follow a plant based lifestyle, limiting animal products, animal by products (ie dairy) and refined sugars. I also tend to shy away from processed foods.
In the beginning on 2015 I was faced with a life threatening illness which almost claimed my life. Ever since then I embrace life fully and pay close attention to what allow to enter my body.
I felt completely frustrated after receiving a shoulder shrug from my doc when I asked her what to eat to nurse myself back to health. It was then that I went on a mission to discover foods that would nourish and repair my body.
After TONS and TONS of research, I found that there were SO many benefits about adopting a plant based lifestyle that I just couldn’t ignore. I’m also a Certified Culinary Nutrition Expert and my goal is to continue to empower others about the benefits of a plant happy diet. I believe that most diseases can be switched off or even reversed by a plant strong diet. If you need more evidence check out Kris Carr or check out Forks Over Knives on Netflix.
I practice the art of meraki, that is doing things with soul, love and creativity, in addition to being present and living intentionally. Living intentionally forces you to take full control of your well being and to be conscious about your daily life.
We make better decisions for ourselves in terms of our lifestyle, diet and what we will or will not tolerate through living intentionally. I believe it’s SO important to find ways to continually build on your happiness. Taking care of my mind AND my body has become something of the utmost importance to me and I hope after joining me on this journey you will find the beauty in this also.

When I eat something healthy I appreciate the nourishment it brings to my body. When I entertain I take great joy in having another day to spend time with loved ones. I’m not perfect so when I eat something not so healthy, I savour it, instead of beating myself up about it and then I make the next meal more nourishing. The way we think about ourselves and our relationship to food affects our bodies.
I live in Toronto, Canada with my hubby Danny whom I married in May 2014, and yes, I will forever feel like a newlywed :). When he’s not occupied being my official taste tester, you’ll find him writing books or coaching people on reaching their life goals.
Eat, Live and Play is a paradigm of all the aspects of my life that make me who I am, my love for food, my curiosity about the world around me and having fun with friends and family (or maybe just a dance party by myself 🙂 )
As I learn new things, grow, and interact with each of you Eat, Live, & Play will constantly evolve – just as you also evolve.
