Yes, that would be right, your girl Tru throwin down the beets in frozen yogourt. I, like you was a bit skeptical at first. If you’ve read some previous posts a lot of my best creations are simply by accident. Magic can happen in the kitchen when you have some excess ingredients on hand and mix a lil of this and a lil of that.

I had roasted some beets earlier in the week and I had a couple extras on hand. Feeling a little bit adventurous I decided to team them up with Greek yogourt.

My only regret is that I didn’t make a bigger batch, hence my little bowl in the pic. Actually this wasn’t even a planned post so I’m sorry that the pics aren’t the greatest. But after this little happy magic happened I just had to share it with you.

Beets are one of my fav foods. They are considered to be a grounding food because they are grown close to the earth. Other foods that are said to ground you are sweet potatoes, carrots, onions and radishes.

If things in your life are hectic or you’ve got kids and are feeling a bit frazzled with all of the back to school festivities eating these types of foods will help create a feeling of stability.

Ayurvedic medicine (one of the world’s oldest whole-body healing systems) teaches us that there are seven chakra symbols that are vital to our health, the root chakra is one of them. The root chakra represents earth centered energy. Eating food that grows close to the ground carries this energy.

Beets are also a great food for detoxing your body naturally, especially your liver. So, if you sipped on your fair share of cocktails this summer then you want to snuggle up close to deez beets!

If you’re feeling a lil sluggish. Beets are the perfect natural alternative to put a pep in your step! Beets are known to boost your energy and improve mental clarity which makes them the perfect afternoon pick me up! They are high in natural nitrates, which converts to nitric oxide in your body. Nitric oxide can expand the walls of blood vessels which gives you more nutrients, oxygen, and more energy. Skip the Red Bull and march to deez beets instead.
